Ruby Grove’s anticipated new album Ripple Effect is slated for release in May 2025.
Our EP Ripple Effect is partially named for the plethora of water imagery that arises in the song lyrics, musical motifs, keyboard/guitar sound choices, and even song titles off the EP ( “Lazy River” and “Ocean Sun”). There are straightforward, literal “ripples” depicted in this EP but the real joy of Ripple Effect is through deeper reflection on how the ripple effects of internal and external events, thoughts, and emotions can lead to positive or negative changes in one’s life and perception. A psychological and philosophical-minded album, Ripple Effect is a journey through spiritual, mental, physical, emotional, and societal impacts, or “ripples”. Ripple Effect starts in a relatively simple place of joy and wonder about nature with “Ocean Sun” but dives deeper beyond the surface as the album progresses to themes about existential loneliness and belonging, universal consciousness, love and attraction, mindfulness and mental health, self-empowerment, burnout and recovery, and the impacts of the pandemic and the current social position we are in as a collective facing the impact of unchecked capitalism and authoritarianism.
